Futures Industry M&A Activity Surges to Five Deals This Year as Shenyin Wanguo Futures Receives Regulatory Nod to Merge Hongyuan Futures

On September 4th, Shenyin Wanguo Futures and Hongyuan Futures issued a joint announcement stating that, in accordance with the China Securities Regulatory Commission's approval regarding the merger by absorption of Hongyuan Futures by Shenyin Wanguo Futures, the consolidation has been sanctioned, and Hongyuan Futures will be legally dissolved.

This merger plan entails the transfer of Hongyuan Futures' clients and business operations into the surviving entity. Shenyin Wanguo Futures and Hongyuan Futures will actively coordinate with various futures exchanges, securities exchanges, and the futures market monitoring center to orderly complete the integration of exchange seats, client positions, and client margins. After the merger is finalized, the branches of Hongyuan Futures will be converted into branches of the surviving company.

The pace of consolidation within the futures industry has noticeably accelerated this year. Aside from the merger between Shenyin Wanguo Futures and Hongyuan Futures, several other significant transactions have taken place. On April 8th, the CSRC approved CICC Wealth Futures' absorption of CICC Futures, with the latter dissolving upon completion. On April 20th, Haitong Futures announced that its controlling shareholder, Guotai Haitong Securities, had initiated plans for the merger and reorganization of Guotai Junan Futures and Haitong Futures. On July 16th, the CSRC approved the change of the actual controller of Yingda Futures to China National Petroleum Corporation. On August 7th, Lin Securities announced its agreement to acquire a 94% stake in HNA Futures.
