Dr. Sun Peng, a former lead reinforcement learning expert at ByteDance and ex-head of the Robotics X embodied intelligence center at Tencent, has officially joined Stellar Intelligence on Monday, September 2. In his new role, Dr. Sun will primarily steer the company's research and application development in robot reinforcement learning. Over the past two years, foundational robot models have largely focused on solving the question of "can it be done." However, as robots transition from flashy demos to real-world deployment and commercial viability, the core question is shifting toward "can it be done stably and repeatedly."

This evolution—making robots continually adjust their strategies based on actual execution results—has brought reinforcement learning back to the forefront of industry attention. Dr. Sun has long-standing expertise in reinforcement learning (RL), intelligent agents, and multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL), backed by substantial research and industrial experience spanning robot RL, large-scale distributed RL systems, and large-model reinforcement learning. His arrival is set to bolster Stellar Intelligence's capabilities in reinforcement learning, creating a synergistic effect with its AI models, embodied OS, and cable-driven robot hardware. Together, these elements will enable robots to continuously learn and evolve in the real world.

Following his appointment, Dr. Sun will actively expand the robot reinforcement learning team at Stellar Intelligence, driving the enhancement of the company's technical capabilities and the deployment of practical applications.
