Ocumension Therapeutics (OCUMENSION) disclosed that the first participant has been enrolled in its Phase III clinical trial evaluating OT-202, a self-developed dual Syk/VEGFR-2 inhibitor for moderate-to-severe dry eye disease (DED) in mainland China. The milestone advances OT-202 into late-stage development and underscores the company’s strategic priority of expanding its ophthalmic pipeline.

OT-202 Mechanism and Prior Results OT-202 targets spleen tyrosine kinase and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2, aiming to provide synergistic anti-inflammatory benefits for DED patients. Safety and tolerability were established in a Phase I trial completed in February 2023. A randomized, double-masked, placebo-controlled Phase II study enrolled 213 patients by November 2023, met its primary endpoints in March 2024, and had results published in the peer-reviewed journal Ophthalmology.

Regulatory and Commercial Context Although the successful Phase III initiation marks substantive progress, Ocumension cautions that there is no assurance OT-202 will ultimately achieve commercialization.

Board and Governance The announcement was authorized by Chairman and Non-executive Director Dr. Lian Yong Chen and released on 31 August 2026 in Hong Kong. The board currently consists of five non-executive and three independent non-executive directors, alongside two executive directors, ensuring diversified oversight as the company advances its clinical portfolio.
