Industry data released on Friday shows that South Korean chipmakers Samsung Electronics and SK hynix maintained their dominant positions as the world's top two NAND flash memory suppliers in the second quarter of this year.
According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, global NAND flash market sales climbed 70% quarter-on-quarter during the April-to-June period, driven primarily by rising prices. This growth follows an equally impressive 90% sequential increase recorded in the first quarter.
Samsung Electronics solidified its leadership with a 28% market share in the second quarter, while SK hynix secured the second-place position with 19%. Micron Technology rounded out the top three with a 15% share.
China's Yangtze Memory Technologies delivered better-than-expected revenue during the reporting period, capturing a 14% market share and tying with Kioxia for the fourth position.
