On August 28th, Hong Kong dollar interbank offered rates (HIBOR) moved higher across all tenors, signaling tightening liquidity in the banking system.
The one-month HIBOR, closely tied to mortgage rates, rose by 6.179 basis points to 2.85000%, while the three-month rate, a key indicator of bank funding costs, increased by 3.006 basis points to 3.00875%.
Overnight rates saw the most significant jump, climbing 23.393 basis points to 3.42464%. Meanwhile, the one-week rate advanced by 12.059 basis points to 3.23196%, and the two-week rate edged up 1.517 basis points to 2.93196%.
The two-month tenor gained 3.083 basis points to reach 2.94268%.
Among longer maturities, the six-month rate remained unchanged at 3.20518%, while the one-year rate ticked up 0.566 basis points to 3.50566%.
