Euro High-Yield Credit Default Protection Costs Edge Lower

1255 GMT - The cost of insuring high-yield euro-denominated credit against default falls slightly. Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh warned about inflation and the risk that interest rates might have to rise in a speech on Friday. However, whether policymakers raise rates will likely depend on Friday's U.S. jobs data and next week's inflation figures, says UBS Global Wealth Management's Mark Haefele in a note. "Although the risk of a September hike has increased, the latest sequential inflation data remain consistent with further disinflation," he says. The iTraxx Europe Crossover index of euro high-yield credit default swaps falls 1 basis point to 246bps, S&P Global Market Intelligence data show.
