SpaceX (SPCX) is laying the groundwork for a foundry in Bastrop, Texas, to manufacture blades and vanes for large gas turbines, The Information reported Saturday, citing job listings and other indicators.
According to the report, the company is hiring engineers to build and operate the facility as it seeks to ease turbine-component shortages limiting power for AI data centers.
Elon Musk later confirmed the plan, saying in-house casting of turbine blades and vanes could accelerate natural-gas turbines coming online by up to 18 months, the report added.
SpaceX did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
