Amgen Says Repatha Cuts Death Risk 20% in High-Risk Patients

Amgen (AMGN) said Monday that its cholesterol-lowering drug Repatha reduced the risk of death by 20% in high-risk adults without a prior heart attack or stroke.
The findings came from a pre-specified analysis of the phase 3 VESALIUS-CV trial involving more than 12,000 patients and were presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress 2026 in Munich, it said.
Amgen said Repatha reduced both overall and cardiovascular deaths when added to statins or other LDL-C-lowering treatments. The mortality benefit emerged after about 1.5 years and continued through a median follow-up of 4.6 years, it added.
