0239 GMT - Consumer inflation in the Philippines likely eased to 6.0% on year in August from July's 6.2%, according to the median estimate of seven economists polled by The Wall Street Journal. Prices likely softened due to lower retail fuel prices, ING economists say in a note. However, core inflation pressures likely remained elevated, with food inflation continuing to pick up, they add. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has projected inflation to settle between 5.5% and 6.5% for August. The central bank said it will continue to assess the impact of developments in the Middle East and recent weather disturbances on the Philippines' inflation and economic outlook. The data are due Friday.
