Fed's Barr Calls for Decisive Move to Hike Rates if Inflation Isn't Cooling Enough

Fed Governor Michael Barr said the central bank should act decisively to raise interest rates if inflation appears not to be moderating sufficiently.

Barr said at a Washington, D.C. event that if data trends give him confidence that inflation is moderating on a path to the Fed's 2% target, the central bank could take a "bit more time" to assess its policy stance.

"However, if inflation appears not to be moderating sufficiently, then I think we should act decisively to raise rates." a published text of his remarks said.
