Skytech (TPE:6937) has opened an advanced-process laboratory jointly established with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, or TSMC, (TPE:2330), Investor reported.

The facility will support joint research and development in three areas: advanced thin-film deposition equipment, film-property improvement, and precursor screening and verification. Skytech will work to optimize locally developed deposition equipment for next-generation wafer processes.

The companies will also evaluate specialty chemical gases and new materials, including their chemical stability and environmental compliance, the report said.

Shares of the semiconductor equipment maker rose 2% in recent trade, while shares of TSMC fell nearly 2%.
